HDD Enclosure that allows divx playback to TV.

Here's a few, mostly Korean companies. I'm not sure why you all are so stuck on DVD MPEG-4 players, when these players seem to have very minor to no issues playing most avi's. Multi selectable subs, moveable subs, change colour on subs, customized zoom for video, etc...all from the remote control included. HD players are where it's at.

I'll vouch for the Tvix (http://www.tvixusa.com/) that he listed. I've had mine for a few months now and I love it. Plays DVDs, MPEG1, XviD, DivX3/4/5, MP3, jpeg...never tried ogg but i hear it works. Runs linux...has a decent remote...haven't hit too many quirks. It plays most everything I throw at it. I think it has a Sigma chipset, but I use AutoGK with the ESS support (own a philips dvp642 too) with MP3 or AC3 and it plays all those just fine. It has surround sound and component video support but i've only used composite & svideo. I have found files it won't play, but neither will the other hardware players...those unsupported features like QPel and crap. It has some software that's supposed to be able to use virtualdub and convert unsupported avis, but i haven't used it to do that yet.

I think I bought it for $180 (US)

Yeah, all of those I've used have the Sigma's EM8511 chipset. Seems to be a very capable chipset when coded properly. I know the airlinktek MG-25 and MG-35 can Progressive scan/upscale to 480p, 720p, 1080i. The latest firmware even allows the MP4 extension. I tried it on a few old Nero Recode ASP encodes and it read them, even with HE-AAC. Wasn't able to FF or RW though. Perhaps with the next firmware.

...Wasn't able to FF or RW though. Perhaps with the next firmware.Yes.... I've noticed this with Mpeg4 within .MP4 using my Xcard and Media-Link device. Both of which are fitted with igma chip-sets.

Thankfully, people who own devices fitted with Sigma's EM8620L chip-set have reported that "they can" FF and FR :)
