Hi!
Some time ago jsoto (of VobBlanker fame) did a small, simple app that generates blank vobs. It's called BlankVob. Since jsoto placed it under LGPL i took the liberty and ported this app to linux. It's available for download at http://rebels.plukwa.net/~jedi/blankvob/
I do realize that there are many other more usefull apps but please understand that this is my first app written (well not exactly :) ) for last 10 or so years. All the functionality comes from jsoto's sources i just twisted it, added GTK GUI and made it use autoconf tools.

Thats still very cool. It gives an old and useful program a new life :>

What is the use of blank vobs though?
/me reveals to still be a newbie...

BlankVob has ability to recreate whole Vob id/Cell Id structure so you can replace some part of dvd with generated file(s). Or you can replace something on dvd with blank vob.

yeah i realize this is not very very usefull tool but might come handy at times - for me it was something like a challenge and i do plan (as spare time permits) port some other apps to linux; in dvd backup linux is somewhat crippled and i do hate that situation

It compiled with no problem on my SuSE-9.3.

Have you tried porting any other multi-media apps to linux?
