Hello Nick,i'm trying to encode with QuEnc (.59 beta 4 version) since my TMPGEnc expired but i seem to run into some problems when i use it.
Well to start maybe you can tell me the "standard" settings so it runs ok when you encode a movie,i have read that Trellis is very buggy, also i have read that you have to turn Mux Audio off...where is that?,and also i have read that i have to turn "Pictures" and "Detect Scene" and "Extra slow" settings off...now what does all that mean...?
Also maybe you can explain what 1 pass and 2 pass mean, can the movie be encoded in just 1 pass? or do i need to have 2 passes?...
I tried it to the best of my knowledge and it went ok but when it encoded the video it only encoded 3 minutes of it,the funny thing is that it gave me an ISO to burn...plus the video seemed "slow"...lol
Now, i notice that QuEnc .60 is out...is that better than what i have?
should i upgrade?...
Finally i'll let you see the log for D2S so you can see what happened and the
Mplex log where the problem happened...something at the end that says:
"Too many frame drops"...please help us out like you always do...thanks (^_^)/

OK, A couple of points.

Firstly, there are two users at Doom9 with similar handles.
There is Nic , the guy who wrote the program QuEnc
And there is Nick , who struggles to program a VCR.

Unfortunately you are dealing with the latter
As for your error, I got the same one too on a project I was doing at the weekend. I have not yet got to the bottom of what caused it but if/when I do, I will let you know how I fixed it.

As for this project, if you heven't had your 30-day free trial of TMPGEnc DVD Author, now could be a good time to download, as I used it to author from the QuEnc-created MPV and the Encoded_Audio_1.mp2 files in my project folder and it went without hitch.

This workaround should keep you going in the meantime.

Oh i see, well it helps to know who you're dealing with anyways...lol
But,i believe you have helped me b4 so you should be fine...
Well Nick,i had used my TMPGEnc trial version so that is not an option (T o T)
QuEnc seems pretty straight forward but if you could tell me the "standard" settings for it to encode an avi it should work fine,i mean as far as how to configure QuEnc properly,if not,can you get a hold of (Nic)...LOL. Ok, let me know something please, thank you (^-^)

Hello Nick,i'm glad to inform you that i figured out...^^ (claps)
Ok...first of all,i got rid of the QuEnc .59 beta since i read is not very stable.
and i have the newer version (.61 QuEnc)

Second:Make sure that your avi file is correct.
This is a crucial step, you might load a damaged file (wrong audio or video frame errors, etc.) and therefore D2S nor QuEnc can't accept such.I recommend using VDubmod for this...(^-^)

Third: i did plenty of tests with the settings and here's what i had the last time i encoded the movie and it came out perfect.
Under D2S QuEnc settings mode you choose:
1- Scene detection = checked
2-High Quality= checked
3-Trellis= checked
(note: some people have problems with trellis so it is up to you to check the box or not but i strongly recommend doing it since Trellis helps to keep the pace in the encode)
4-Extreme settings- checked
5-2 pass encoding= highly recommended

You can leave the rest of the settings untouched.
Ok,so i encoded my avi which was about roughly 1 hr. 22 min, or 700 mb long.
It only took me 4 hours and a half for the whole movie to encode!!!!,ISO and the works...(^_^)
That is WAY better than TMPGEnc which takes literally "hours and hours" to do the job.And the quality was SUPERB i mean it...sharp as a knife...lol

I thought i let you know though...since it could help others too...
Well thanks for all and take care... (^-^)b
