I have downloaded the 0112 firmware from Philips and tried to burn it according to the instructions. I used Nero and had problems mapping the burn-instructions from Philips in the settings in Nero. And as a result after having tried to burn 2 cd's it will not work. When I insert the cd in my DVP-630 player it will just chew on it for a while with no messages on the screen and then spit the cd out.
I contacted Philips about this and they offered to send me a cd with the upgrade. I got it and it worked at first attempt. So everything should be ok apart from the fact that they did not give me 0112 version but the one before that.
So can anyone tell me how to burn this firmware so that my player will acknowledge it? Can I use Nero? Can I just put the 2 files (the third file with EW in name should not be included according to the instruction) on the cd and burn as a data-cd?
If anyone can give me some hints or recommend other burn software with appropriate settings that they know work I would appreciate it.

Hi and welcome to the forum! :sly:

This is very important:

How to make an upgrade disc
Write both dvpxx.rom and dvpxxdv.rom files onto a blank CD-R , using the following settings :
· File System CD-ROM ISO Level 2
· Mode 1/2/XA
· Character set ISO 9660
· Finalised, single session
· Write speed slow (e.g. 2x, 4x)

Select in Nero: In the ISO tab, Data Mode: Mode 2 / XA
And do not forget to slow down the recording speed to 2x or 4x
I also recomend to use a CD-RW or a PocketCD-RW, so if something goes wrong, you can erase and try againg.
I hope it helps.
Greetings! ;)

EDIT: I think you had the 0531 version, right?...Well, it's a pitty that you apply the next one, now you player is going to have Macrovision and you can not get it back :( ... the 0112 version is ok, I do not notice any difference between the previous one.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

1. Take note of your set model number on the white-label at the back of the set.
2. Press “ OPEN/CLOSE” to open the disc tray.
3. Press “ 5 6 9” “OK” button on the remote control.
4. The software version (VERxxxx) and model (6xx/xx) will appear at the top of the TV screen.

No necessary to convert the firmware files by Philips into an ISO, just burn the files as they are with Nero and does it. The information is also provided in the PDF file together with the firmware.
Greetings! ;)
