Hi,

I've bought this player last weekend for my friend and really love it.

But I don't have time to test it. I hope somebody can shed me some light(not light saber)

--> Does this player support MKV, OGM, ASF, MP4, XCD?

--> is there anywhere I can find those sample files??

Thanks in advance

The Philips DVP 5100K is fitted with an MediaTek MT1389xx chip-set.

Sadly the chip-set/player does not support any of the containers you mentioned. It does support .VOB (Mpeg2/DVD), .DAT (Mpeg1/VCD) and .AVI (Mpeg4 SP/ASP) for video. It should also be able to spin RAW Mpeg1 and 2 streams within the .MPG container. Plus a few audio stream types ;)

Is this player compatible with just released Divx 6?

Is this player compatible with just released Divx 6?The Philips DVP5100 is "DivX Certified" so it should indeed be able to play DivX6 streams placed within the .AVI container.

With regard to the .DIVX container, it should also be able to play (at the very minimum) the audio and video elements of a DivX6 encode.

But until manufacturers provide firmware upgrades for their players, you will not have access to DivX6's (.divx), menus, chapters and maybe even the subtitles.
