I've noticed a rehash on doom's old rant on the mainpage about Intel doing DRM in their next chips, I just like to point out that AMD users aren't safe either:
Some outragees have expressed the touching sentiment that AMD certainly won't do such an awful thing. You fools! AMD announced that eight months ago, and more recently announced it would be incorporated into its new 2006 lineup. They call it "Presidio."
DRM or Not? (http://www.overclockers.com/tips00789/)
Aren't we all just happy campers now :D especially since the article goes on to point out that about same thing gonna happen for XBox360, PS3, Mac, and they even gonna put TPM (a type of drm) into Linux, thanx do our beloved government.

Yeah. Learn about TPM here (https://www.trustedcomputinggroup.org/about/faq/). What are we so concerned about? Orwell told us all this long time ago. As somebody said, conform, or get lost. See ya, careful the door might hit your ass on the way out.
Regards.

correction: circumvent or get lost
P.S. this post is in no way promotes or suggest circumvention or avoidance of anything by any means.

And what if you are no longer allowed to circumvent it legally?

That's the whole point. The Big Boys are going to try hard to see that all avenues of circumvention are blocked. The TPM chip can be circumvented by only a handful number of engineers in the world, as opposed to software protection programs. It's not gonna be difficult to discourage them.

they even gonna put TPM (a type of drm) into Linux, thanx do our beloved government. But the difference is, no matter what DRM / TPM / whatever else is written for linux, I don't have to install it / compile it into my kernel. That's the beauty of open source.

that is true, however my point was more of the fact that Intel isn't the bad boy of the industry, and is simply keeping up with what everyone else is doing, Doom's coverage on mainpage gives a wrong impression that Intel is the one messing with us and spearheading the assault on our rights.
P.S. I'm an AMD user, always was, but there are way better reasons to use AMD then just it being not-Intel.
