when and which should you use - seeing as there is a few to choose from
i mean when you have say
2500 - 3000 bitrate which would you use
3000 - 4000 which would you use
and if you have 4000 + which to use
now i know one of the responses is going to be either use dvd-rb default or if you dont know how to use matrices then you shouldnt use them
but if i dont ask the question and no one gives me the answer how i am supposed to learn :p

did that b4 i posted - theres a few there, was hoping someone who has tried and tested them might be able to pin it down to a few for each area of bitrate i posted about above :P

That's what I did and in my experience it depends very much on the source. Some will benefit from a different matrix while other show almost no difference. I ended up using mostly the default and sometimes QLB or KVCD. Other that that I use filters more than matrices, and/or change encoder to ProCoder 2 which is great on some sources. QMatOp is a very cool idea for a prog to produce custom matrices but unfortunately I had nothing but bad results from all 4 sources I tried with it.
If you hammer the search a bit you'll find some recommendations for QLB matrix for around 2500-3000 bps, KVCD notch for 2000-2500, and perhaps Bach1 matrix below. Above 3k most seem to use the default matrix for normal Hollywood sources.

You can find a good tool to convert .xcm matrices and others in this thread Here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=73666&page=1&pp=40)
Or you can just download the tool from Here (http://www.ligh.de/software/CQME_1.0b.zip)
Rockas Rebuilder Matrix Editor needs text files. I use the above tool to convert to text files then import with the Rockas R. Matrix Editor.
It also gives a great 3-D view of the matrix.
The link is in the Xvid forum, those guys have all kinds of matrices. However, be warned a lot of them will Not work in a standalone. But, hey, it's fun trying them out. Some look terrible on my stuff and some look great.

Well I found a link Here to a Text (http://tehru.org/sxgz/matrices/)
file Matrix bonanza.
Click the link, copy the matrix and then paste in notepad, save the Matrix in notepad with the proper and correct name. Open Rockas Rebuilder Matrix Editor, click import, point to the saved text document, (mine is on the Desktop) name it Correctly(example CCE Smooth ) and save.
It is now available to be used by DVD-RB.

P.S. Try the HVS Good picture, it was recommended by SAPSTAR, I believe.

@Rockas
Thanks man, that will be so much easier to use!
Regards, :D
P.S. Carpo you might want to wait for Rockas, since using the direct import
of .CQM and .XCM should be easier.
