"Pioneer and Mitsubishi have made an announcement that shatters this Toshiba's advantage. Thus, the two manufacturers have managed to reduce the manufacturing costs for the BD-R (Blue-Ray Recordable) discs to 11% of the initial value, by using the spin coating technology, already employed on a large scale in the production of DVD-R."

Looks like Blue Ray just cut the knees out from under HD-DVD. 50gigs instead of 30 gigs, and (hopefully no format war), HOORAY!

Ha! Not so fast. These big guys are playing hardball. Don't bet on anythiong. I'm a Blu-Ray fan myself, but have learnt to relax and wait.

And how relevant is the price of BD-R, the consumer-recordable media, to commercial stamped products?

exactly
it;s all about profit, if they can get more from blu-ray in the long run then it wins
which I hope so
blu-ray is clearly suprioir imho
