I've done a search on this on a few different forums, google, etc. and come up blank so far.

Is there a software player out there that will disregard PUOs, or is that something which simply isn't possible to do? The more DVDs I watch, the less tolerance I have for companies that insist on putting things on those DVDs which I am *forced* to watch every time I put the thing in my player. I've tried MPC, WinDVD, PowerDVD, VLC, WMP, BSPlayer, etc. without any luck. VLC sort of does what I want, but it has an issue of its own in that when I tell it to use SPDIF the sound just echoes.

It's easy enough to remove all that garbage when I backup my own DVDs (although who knows how long that will last now that DVD Decrypter is dead), but I'd love to see a player that can skip directly to a menu or specific title when I'm playing a disc from Netflix.

Try sth. like anydvd or remoteselector (the latter is freeware). They allow you to disable puos.

Thanks, I'd never heard of RemoteSelector before, but it's working well so far. They don't support MPC, but PowerDVD is decent enough.

Based on how this program seems to do its thing, it makes me wonder why Herrie, etc. aren't able to include that feature in their custom NEC firmwares.
