View Full Version : Rebuilder limited to 650 segments?

I was using DVD Rebuilder on a DVD created using Audio DVD Creator, using no compression, basically just to remux the DVD.

I've found that it bombs out with "Run-time error '6': Overflow" on segment 651. There is nothing special about that segment - I tried reordering the songs on the DVD and it still dies at the same segment number.

For reference, I was using DVD Rebuilder to remux, because DVD Remake did not like the original DVD, but it would read it fine when "fixed" by DVD Rebuilder.

Through this I have found an alternate freeware DVD editor PgcEdit (http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=PgcEdit) that has more features. This program reads the original DVD without problems.

The purpose of editing the DVD was to add random play support. The PgcEdit software allows you to change the "PG Playback Mode" from sequential to random or shuffle. I was also able to clone all the PGCs and make the play mode switchable via the Root Menu button.

There is no limit to the number of segments (except for the 9,999 that will fit in the filename allocation). Something in that segment must have caused an overflow...

Each m2v file is a single frame of video, and it is being muxed with ac3 audio. A title contains all the songs for an album as separate programs, and the one that is bombing out is within the middle of an album. When I get the error it shows "rebuilding segment 651", so it may be the 652nd which is in error?

I've just tried copying the m2v files from around the 650 range over top of the first m2v files. The rebuild phase processes these without problems.

Is it possible to rearrange entries inside rebuilder.inf to prove there is nothing wrong with those definitions?

For reference I am using v0.93.2, and thanks jdobbs for great (and cheap) software. I wouldn't worry about trying to track this down, since it is unlikely to occur in a normal DVD.

Seems to me that you are dealing with a bad source.

9999? I wish that would be true! The rebuilder usually stops responding at the ~1000th segment, I reported it here (1st point)

Seems to me that you are dealing with a bad source.

Entirely possible. Yes either Audio DVD Creator is generating an illegal DVD, or DVD Remake has a bug with processing a valid DVD. Note that when Remake "did not like" the DVD it actually got stuck in an infinite loop right at the start of the DVD.

As I said, after processing by Rebuilder (even though it bombs out), the partial DVD can be read by DVD Remake. In that case, the IFO files were identical (since Rebuilder just copies these) so the "problem" must be in the VOBs. I've tried comparing, but with my limited knowledge I was unable to determine what was the problem. I was hoping to give feedback to either Remake or Audio DVD Creator developers.

The "bad source" doesn't cause DVD Rebuilder problems. The error '6' thing seems to be an internal limitation unrelated to a specific segment - because of my efforts to reorder the segments.

Where does it get stuck - during import? Does it generate any error? You can also look at DvdReMake.log to see if it says anything. Maybe the problem is Audio DVD Creator since it generates the source.

Probably a "cracked" version, as I have never seen a working copy on the P2P sceene.

I think I've seen this error on a DVD with VTS's with 600+ segments. I reran the Rebuild phase and it completed successfully, though.
