Newbie here. I did a search for this problem and searched through a couple of treads tring to see if this has been asked and answered before but I didnt see it.

when attempting to back up my DVD (the borne supremacy) I had just finished analizing the dvd and clicked on backup. it started to encode the dvd, and then all the sudden the program stopped actually dissappeared. as if I had never even started the program. at first I thought it was a fluke so I tried it again, and again it did the same thing. so this time after the program "disappeared" I clicked into my task mgr so I could see if the program showed if it was running or not. I re-started dvd shrink and got to the same part only this time it actually encoded 1% and then just stopped running???

does this make any sense??

I forgot to also add that I put in another of my dvd's and DVD Shrink worked just fine. ran completely through w/o any problems.

Bourne Supremacy may have some copy protection that DVD Shrink doesn't like. I'm not sure if that disc uses any advanced CP or not.

You can try ripping it to you hard drive with DVD Decrypter in file mode, then "Open files" in DVD Shrink and select the files on your HD. OR you can try using DVD43 which will attempt to defeat the copy protection on the fly. Just install the program, restart your comp, and then try it again from the DVD in your DVD Drive.

The R1 of it doesn't work in Shrink. It has what is known as "running boy" protection.

Use DVD Decrypter ort DVD43free as wmansir mentioned.

actually its called arccos protection...but hey running boy is close. :D

a search can find enough information for people to know how to handle it.

Thanks for the help but as u know with the new news I wasnt able to download that program. I tried to go to his site but I wasnt able to get it in time.

I tried backing up one of my other DVD's and now I got a Data error it says that there is a
Failed to read file "D:\"
data error: cyclic redundancy check
and this is when I'm almost 90 some % into analizing the dvd????

does this make any sense??

What DVD is it? If it is a early DVD then it is usually a sign of being scratched too much to be read. Some of the new DVD's with ArcoSS can generate a CRC error in Shrink as well. DVD Decrypter is then needed.

For DVD Decrypter try

To get rid of Jumping Boy after ripping the disk (all files), run the project through VobBlanker.
