I've run into a strange problem and I haven't been able to find ny help on doom9 or elsewhere on the net. The problem I have is when playing an AVI file in the latest MPC the screen resets/resynchs when I move the window. It doesn't do this if play the file in Windows Media Player.Actually it's a bit worse than that. If I open an AVI file in MPC and pause the window, I can get the same screen reset/resynch if I open up ffdshow.

This didn't happen until I installed DirectX 9.0c (on Windows XP SP2) today. Once I did that the system crashed when playing AVI files with an error in the Nvidia driver. So I downloaded and installed a new graphics drivers for my GeForce 4200 TI. Once I installed the new graphics driver the system didn't crash but I do get this strange behavior.

I've tried changing the settings in ffdshow (use XVID or libavcodec for XVID files), changing the settings in MPC (tried multiple video settings). None of the changes helped.

The strange thing is that if play the same files with Windows Media Player I don't see this problem. I can move the window around and the screen doesn't reset.

*Added input. I did find one option that got around the problem. If I use the system default option for the DirectShow Video Output I don't have the problem. If use any of the other options, like VMR9 windowed or renderless, I'll have the resynch/reset issue.

Anyone have any suggestions as to the source of the problem, and how I might fix it?

thanks for any help.
