That is FFMpeg MPEG-4. Set ffdshow to decode the FOURCC 'FMP4'. And open in a DirectShow player like BSPlayer.

I believe the latest VLC Media Player should support FMP4 FourCC. Else change the FourCC of the file using a FourCC changer into XviD or DX50 and then retry with VLC. FMP4 is MPEG-4 compatible, so I don't see any reason why it shouldn't play.

Oh, well. The .avi that I have ... when I open it in the AVI FourCC Code Changer GUI, it shows:
FourCC Description Code: FMP4 (dropdown choices are: mp41, mp42, mp43, DIV4)
FourCC Used Codec: FMP4 (dropdown choices are: mp41, mp42, mp43, DIV3)
Which one (Description Code or Used Code) do I change and to what?
Regards.

the Description Code tells you what is currently used as 4cc...
and the 'used codec' gives you the ability to change it to your needs...
the entries you see are default entries which you can use but you can type what you want ;) e.g. DX50
btw, what do you mean with: "The .avi that I have" ... don't you know anymore how you have encoded your file :sly:

Thanks, sillKotscha.
Unfortunately I didn't encode the file. It's a small file of a concert that I got from one of my son's school-teachers. It was a small portion from a DVD of the entire concert.
I myself use either GK or AutoGK which have never failed me.
Regards.
