Hi, new to this site, searched for what I wanted, couldn't find it so please dont' start :search: me! ( :p )
I have several MKV files that have either AAC audio, VobSub subtitles or both. I'm sure that everybody knows that VirtuaDub(Mod) cannot correctly (or at all) handle such files, the wonderful mkvmerge can but... How can I demux those streams into files from the mkv? I mean, it's ok if I have them in the mkv but if for instance I want to decode the AAC into a wav (for some reason when I demux the AAC streams from VDubMod the resulting files cannot be recognized as AAC by ANY program, I mean the Nero Player, windows media player that could play it while in the MKV file, not even mkvmerge can recognize it as a usable stream!) or if I want to turn the VobSub into srt then what? I know of no program that can demux them. Any help?

in mkvtoolnix there is an app called mkvextract. this is what you need. It's command line though, but a GUI was made for it, called mkvextractGUI (search for it :p), which you can place in the same folder. It's pretty easy. AAC demuxing is straightforward, but vobsub files can only be put back into another mkv, you won't get any joy changing them to srt (to the last of my knowledge i.e. 2 months ago). There was a thread in subtitles about it, not too far down :)

... but vobsub files can only be put back into another mkv .... Demux vobsub to .idx/.sub file is possible since version 1.0.
