I have read a heap of postings to try and find a answer to my question ,
How to get from DVD (vob) to MPEG (windows media player)

I have learnt that a DVD is already a MPEG file in a vob case ?( I think), all good but how do I get it out ? because renaming the vob file to .mpeg dose not work for me.

Next do I want MPEG1 or 2 or ????? I don’t know I would like good quialty and some thing easy to use? Like browse for source and browse for target and a go button.

Why ? because I have purchased lots of video DVD’s and the first few times you watch all the “how we got this song” between clips is ok but now.

So I have used DVD shrink to get the songs only and have all the vob files in seprate folders and now I would like to make mpegs so I can que them in
windows media player over my network to my Dlink dsm-320 to enjoy on my tv and stereo.

Tks form a Newer than Newbie

If you want to maintain quality, you'll want to stay with MPEG-2, or re-encode them to XviD or DivX. MPEG-2 will probably be more compatible with your device.

You may want to use DVD Decrypter to rip the selected files, then if the ripped files won't play properly use another utility to convert them to MPEG-2 and correct the aspect ratio if necessary. I use AIMONE Video Converter, a very simple utility.
