edit and save m2v with same settings

I would like to know how do you edit m2v files(ad picture over part of movie or something like that) and save it back to to m2v with same settings like original file had. Which program do you use and if you have some guide or something.

please anybody, i need this for motion menus in dvd and menus betwen root and subtitles menu

Without reencoding? $$$ NLE?

Or just use any number of filters for AviSynth, reencode.

i think with reencode, i remuxe m2v with vobedit, but then i have to edit this m2v in some way and encode it back to m2v with same settings.
Do you know how to do this?
