Hello,

I have tried to copy a scratched DVD with DVDShrink.
It did not work, because of read errors.
Now I copied all of the DVD-Files to my Harddisk.
The only File wich cannot be copied correctly is vts_01_1.vob
The video_ts directory on my HD now looks like this:

12.288 video_ts.bup
65.536 vts_01_0.bup
28.672 vts_02_0.bup
12.288 video_ts.ifo
65.536 vts_01_0.ifo
28.672 vts_02_0.ifo
90.583.040 video_ts.vob
176.302.080 vts_01_0.vob
570.531.840 vts_01_1.vob -> incomplete ( should original have also
1.073.709.056 vts_01_2.vob ( 1.073.709.056 Bytes like
1.073.709.056 vts_01_3.vob ( vts_01_02.vob etc..
1.073.709.056 vts_01_4.vob
1.073.709.056 vts_01_5.vob
1.073.709.056 vts_01_6.vob
348.686.336 vts_01_7.vob
4.653.056 vts_02_0.vob
822.026.240 vts_02_1.vob

I can play these files with WinDVD (Source:Directory) very well and at least I am satisfied with that.
Now I want to copy all on a 4.7GB DVD using DVDShrink (Open Files)
And here is the problem: DVDShrink gives me an error because of requesting
a file called ..\video_ts\vts_01_8.vob , wich does not exist, even on the original DVD.
I think, that has somthing to do with the incomplete vts_01_1.vob.
So please, how can I work around this problem ?

Thank You, Oliver

hi and welcome to the forum,

have you tried copying the file in question with dvddecrypter? from my experience it has a higher error tollerance...

hi and thanks for Your answer.

dvddecrypter gave me also read-errors.
I got the best possible results, from copying the bad vts_01_1.vob file manually many times ( using different DVD-drives) and keeping the largest version of this file.
Unfortunatly, I dont have access to the original DVD anymore, so I have to make it
using the files on my HD.
My idea was, to use one of the many tools on this website and manipulate the copied
files, so that DVDShrink or any similar programm dont claims for error.

do You have a clue ?
Thanks,
Oliver

Is the DVD too badly scratched to use something like DiscDr on it? I rent from Netflix, and at least once a month I get a disc too badly scratched to play - instead of sending it back and waiting two or three days for a replacement, I just polish it. It takes about a minute (longer if it's a deep scratch) and the unit costs about as much as a retail DVD.

Try demuxing what you have and rebuilding the DVD from there.
