View Full Version : Frame skipping problems when using subtitles in Media Player Classic v6.4.8.4

Hello to all of you!

I've been using Media Player Classic for a good time, and it's an awesome media player.

But lately I'm having a problem with its subtitle support.

I have a Pentium 3 866MHz computer with a GeForce4 MX-400 with the latest forceware drivers (v71.89) , and use the VRM9 Renderless output option, and the subtitles play just about perfect.

But now I set up a second computer, which is a Pentium 3 1GHz, with a Radeon 9200 SE, and the latest catalyst drivers (v5.5).

When I configure MPC to output through VRM9 renderless, everything plays fine until a open a movie with subtitles. If the movie has subtitles, the video starts skipping frames every now and then (VERY frequently), and I couldn't track what was the reason for it...

If I just disable the subtitles, the video still skips, but if I don't load the subtitles, the video plays just fine. Another funny thing is, if I don't load the subtitles in MPC and use Direct VobSub (v2.23), the video also plays perfectly.

When I use VRM7 renderless output, the video still skips, but I have the impression that it is to a lesser extent...

* Sorry for the loooong backstory, getting to the point now:

What I wanted to know is if any of you guys know of this problem, if this is an incompatibility with the video card (on my GeForce4 MX on a slower computer, the video doesn't skip), with the driver (maybe older versions don't have this problem), or if it is something that I have to configure in MPC.

The thing is, MPC has better support for embedded subtitles and some newer formats than Direct VobSub, so I really wish I could continue using MPC for displaying the subtitles...

Hope you guys can help.

Thanks A LOT for your attention, AND patience! :-)

My best regards,

Lucas
