i have used the search option. for two days, actually.

hey everyone,
as of late i'm trying to learn adobe after effects and am getting along quite well considering that i'm all new to video/audio editing and encoding. after reading this (http://ronald.vslcatena.nl/docs/xvidfaq.html) xvid guide, i knew a decent amount about encoding. next comes audio.
there are wonderful audio encoding guides on this site, i know. the problem though is that after effects won't even let me configure my audio codecs to begin with.
i have my composition done and when i ram preview it it's all nice and neat. my audio source is an mp3.

why would it not let me select "format options" like for video?
when i rendered the video with just the mp3 as it was the sound was glitchey. not much, but a little. not so nice.
i thought, okay, try it with wav. i imported the wav to my ae project and could play the file. however when i put it into the composition, the sound was gone. i did a ram preview, no sound. i checked the wave form, it was one straight line. why is that?

if someone could help me out that would be very nice.
thanks in advance.

oh, and in the final video, i'd like the audio to be mp3 cbr. avi doesn't support vbr, does it?
