Hi all.

I ripped one of my movies to take on camping trips to not risk loosing the original.

I tested it before I left home and found that it worked alright on the DVD player in the lounge.

When camped, I tried to play the movie on the caravan DVD player (also a 250v machine but a different brand) and I got a message"..unable to play on this player", or words to that effect.

When getting home I found I could play it again on the home machine but still the 'van' DVD player refused to play it.

I used only DVD Shrink to rip the movie.

Any explanations please?

My 'ripping exploits' are still in there infancies and this is the first time this has happened. :(

This probably occurred because the media you used is incompatible with the one player, but not the other; it's not an uncommon problem. Check your media out using this link:

Thanks for your reply.

I think the media used was DVD-R as that appears to be what I have in the draw. I can't be sure as I have stuck a label on the 'burnt' DVD.

I did check out your site and found that my 'player' accepts DVD-R media, so it possibly that wrong media is not the problem.

Interesting site you supplied. I explored it further and found that it contains 'cracks' to break area codes. I do not import DVD's from other parts of the world so I do not have the need to use this crack, but I do now have a question (to satisfy my curiosity), that you may be able to answer.

DVD players, mine included allows you to change the area coding about 4 or 5 times before locking onto the last change. I presume this is to off set peoples needs as the travel around the world with there players.

These 'cracks' do they only implement the code changing that I mentioned above, or does it remover the coding completely allowing the playing of coded DVD from anywhere in the world?

Regards :)
