Guys,

i am using: -

DVD Decryptor to get DVD's onto my hard disk
Dr DIVX to convert the resulting vobs to AVI

copying my own DVD collection for backup and convenience purposes and in copying a DVD of episodes it is not syncing the audio.

i have sat and read the forums and i cant see the answer so i am hoping that you guys can help.

in a nutshell, is it meant to be this difficult, when i copy a dvd and then process it, the resultling video (in some cases and not others) has audio out of sync. havin spent most of the last two weeks trying all of the options (you name it, i have attempted it!)

the DVD creates 7 VOB's by the way and each is approx 22 mins long, this of course necessitates appending in VDUB mod, and that has not worked for me, i have of course tried xtracting the Audio and re mixing it as CBR (as per the advice in one of the forums) and to no avail!

is it the ripping that is at fault, or the DIVX processing??

what i would really like to do is talk to someone who has done it with success, is this possible, i will of course call and anyones convenenience!

i hope you guys can start to help to point me in the right direction!

hi there,

interesting little problem :) ur method doesnt seem to be at fault, though it can get a little complicated when appending files. theres always the chance of synch problems creeping in

i would recommend using robot4rip to extract the desired dvd, or single episodes from it (if thats what u want?), then using gordian knot to encode the video and mux it all back together again

robot4rip is a nifty little program that can rip the dvd (through dvd decrypter or internal routines), extract and encode the audio (using besweet)and take care of the subtitles as well

check out the gordian knot guide, using xvid (or whatever codec u choose). takes a little while to get the hang of things but an excellent way to learn a little bit about everything!

i will certainly try all of that again, but i have been down that route as well, and because the problem does not apply to all disks, its very hard to pinpoint the issue.

if you have any other thoughts or can chat, please mail me and i will call you at your convenience!

thanks for taking the time to reply.

regards

hello again :)

ive given ur problem so more thought - r u tryin to append the VOBs in vdubmod? if so, im not suprised it hasnt been working. vdub cant append VOBs. it works just fine with mpgs and avis

u also seem to be ripping the full dvd (in ifo mode?). have u tried ripping each individual episode to a separate VOB? this is much cleaner, each episode can then be entirely separate with its own audio and subs without crossing over into multiple VOBs

u can then demux and encode episodes separately. its a rather long winded way of doing things though, i would still go for robot4rip and then gordian knot

ive done this many times with many episodes of Friends etc. works just fine!

u say ur having problems with some discs but not others, strange indeed! id be happy to chat over the issues if ur still having problems

Try Fairuse. I've used this free tool with excellent results. I rip the dvd to my hard drive with dvddecrypter then open the rip with Fairuse. Easy to use.

Hi-

the DVD creates 7 VOB's by the way and each is approx 22 mins long, this of course necessitates appending in VDUB mod, and that has not worked for me,

Bad move. Don't do that. Keep 'em separate, and join them at the DGIndex step. If you didn't understand that, then perhaps try Auto Gordian Knot to back up your DVDs. If you really have to have them joined into one, do it with DVDDecrypter. Go Tools->Settings->IFO Mode->File Splitting, and set it for None.

please mail me and i will call you at your convenience!
