View Full Version : How to cut a section from a DVD - advice required
Hi, I would be very grateful if anyone could point me in the direction of a program with which I can cut a 3 minute section (not a chapter) from a DVD.
I've got the files on my PC thanks to DVD Decrypter now I just need a program which can edit them.
I need this sequence for a display and would rather do it this way than use the AB repeat option on the DVD player which I would have to set up every morning. I also need the audio and video to remain in a good condition.
Thanks.

Tmpgenc dvd Author and Dvdshrink (free)in re-author mode will allow you to do this.

Or a good Vob cutter, such as VobSplit, MPEG2Cut, or ChopperXP. Check the Vob Utilities in the Doom9 Download section.

Are you just looking to loop the video for continuous playback?

I still use Vidomi on occasion - you can easily select a portion of video, then under General options you check "Ignore settings and use MPEG-2 copy code," and it outputs the selection unrendered so there's no quality loss at all.
Edit: I just remembered that it uses an older version of XviD that's incompatible with Gordian Knot and AutoGK - just deselect XviD during installation. It won't need it for simple editing.
Thanks for the help, quite a few to choose from there - in terms of quality and ease of use which program would be best?
feedback - Yes, I just want to loop a 3 minute section without having to bother setting up A-B repeat every morning.
