Questionable Maxell DVD +R's

I bought a 50 pack of these recently. They passed the Japan vs. Taiwan test; but everything else about them seems cheap. I noticed right off the bat that they just looked cheap, little imperfections near the edge, I can see in the clear circle right outside of the hole that the adhesive bond is inconsistent. I should have returned them, because now I am having some problems reading them. Serial # 05343154E1508618. Bought at Staples. Any chance Maxell is marking Taiwan discs as Japan?? I'd be willing to bet so.

Did you run the blank media through DVD Identifier or any app. that correctly identifies the media as Maxell. There are some counterfeit disks that are out there as well.

I just ran Identifier; they are Hitachi/Maxell disks, so maybe it's just a bad batch.
