Hi,

I have used DVD2SVCD many times for SVCDS in the past but am currently trying to use it to convert an .avi into a DVD for a standalone player.

I have been following the guides, however when I had finished it crashed on making the image. DVDAuthor was lookig for a file thaty didn't exist. I had a look around but there is no way I can afford Sonic Scenarist - is there any other way I can create a DVD menu structure from my finished files?

Thanks for any help,

Matt

Oh boy.
This one again!
Do a search for the DVD Author error message in your logfile.
I am as good as certain, even with the limited info in your post that you have an AVI with audio which is not DVD-compliant (eg MP3) but have done the conversion with "Do not convert audio" checked in the audio tab.

Uncheck this so that DVD2SVCD converts the audio to a DVD compliant format.

It will mean doing the conversion again.

you could start encoding in a different directory (this time without "dont encode audio") and stop the encode after the audio encoding has finished. then move the generated mp2 file to the original directory and use RECOVER in D2S's MISC tab on that directory, from the "muxing and cutting" stage

That's an OK plan, but not guaranteed.
If the source audio is smaller than the encoded audio, doing it that way, the final file may be too big to fit on a disc.

Worth trying, though, I guess, before going the "start from scratch" route.

One thing, though, the encoded file will have a .mp2 extension, whereas the source audio from the original encode will have (probably) a .mpa extension. You may have to edit the ini file to get this to work.
