View Full Version : Haali's parser only parses MKV files in Mode2form2 (not AVI nor MP4)

Hi,
Haali's parser doesn't parser MP4 nor AVI files in mode2form2 mode with MPC, Graphedit, etc. Only MKV m2f2 files play. MP4 and AVI m2f2 files don't. Players say that they are not suitable filters to play, but it is not tru at all... Becasue if a manual graph with an AVI or a MP4 file (MKV of course) in m2f2 mode, begining with Haali's filter is built all is ok: the files play properly. I think it could be a bug or a fault. I think the input pins of Haali's filter should be registered to allow MP4 m2f2 and AVI m2f2 files to play directly on MPC or whatever. isn't it?
Please help me
Thanks

AVI and MP4 are _NOT_ mkv. Thus Haali's splitter isn't meant to deliver propper splitting for those as it is a matroska splitter.

You'll need the filters from xcd.sf.net (or directly download from i.e. http://www.free-codecs.com/download/XCD_DirectShow_filter.htm ).

Haali's splitter works for AVI and MP4 too... i dont know why it wouldnt work for m2f2 files though...

If the splitter handles AVI and MP4 too then it lacks support for M2F2/AVI/MP4, you only need to add GUIDs if I remember correctly to fix that (and make the filter aware to strip the CDXA riff headers of course). It's sooo long ago that I can't remember if it is really necessary to use these filters as well: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/CDXA_Reader.htm

Well. The Haali's filter is a 'Source file'+'Splitter' all-in-one solution so these XCD filters don't work because they can't connect to the Haali's filter.
MPC says this when playing MP4-M2F2 FILE:

Stream 0

Media Type 0:
--------------------------
AM_MEDIA_TYPE:
majortype: MEDIATYPE_Stream {E436EB83-524F-11CE-9F53-0020AF0BA770}
subtype: Unknown GUID Name {49952F4C-3EDC-4A9B-8906-1DE02A3D4BC2}
formattype: TIME_FORMAT_NONE {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}
bFixedSizeSamples: 1
bTemporalCompression: 0
lSampleSize: 1
cbFormat: 0

Can anyone help me?

AVI-m2f2 files plays properly with these XCD filters but NOT using Haali's splitter. They use M$ AVI splitter or the Gabest's AVI splitter.

It is possible to play mp4-m2f2 but not using Haali's but 3ivx + XCD.
I prefer use Haali because it supports AVC+TTXT subtitles

Finally i found the way to register Haali's filter to open AVI and MP4 files in m2f2.
If somebody is interested, attached is a ZIP with:

ORIGINAL.reg
MERLIN.reg

Register MERLIN.reg for use Haali's filter, and ORIGINAL.reg to revert for using original Microsoft filter.

Bond is right, there is no attachment. But thanks for being insulting, that sure hits the purpose of this thread/board.

Well, if I didn't say anything, we (users) would still feel this approval was left unattended. But I want to test it myself, and so would be glad to get the files one way or another.

Finally follow this link to download the Haali's regpatch. It allows you to open MP4 and AVI m2f2 files with Haali's filter by default.

Good luck
