I'm trying to update the drivers for my Sony DW-D22A. If anybody could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.
Well now for my main question. I was burning a CD-r on my Sony Burner with Nero 6 Ultra Edition 66.0.6 and I was going to overburn a few Megs. In the past this was no problem and if there was going to be a problem Nero did a good job letting me know it wasnt going to work. Well the burner light on the front of the drive never shut off even though the disc was done burning, this also caused the computer to lock up. After about 20 minutes of trying anything and everything to stop the burning process I had to restart my computer. Now the burner doesnt see anything I load into the drive, Blank media or a cd or dvd. Can this be fixed? TIA
What Exactly Do you need ?? a Firware ?? and What do you have ....??
If you need a Firmware Update .....http://dhc014.rpc1.org/indexOEM.htm#S (Here) Under Letter "S"

@flynskyhigh:
Your Sony DW-D22A is an OEM (Sony won't officialy release firmware updates) version of the Sony DRU-710A, which in turn is a "rebadged" Lite-On SOHW-1633S
I personaly prefer the latest BYX4 firmware for the DRU-710A.
You can find the original firmware here: http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/dru710adwn.htm
If that doesn't work, you can find a descrabled - CrossFlashable - Tweaked version here: http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares.html
Wait a second....you telling me that You can use Firmware Update from DRU-710A to DW-D22A Is that right...?? Coz I have Update BYS3:( for my DW-D22A
by the way First update you gave Doesn't work for DW-D22A...
And Second That link Won't Open...!!!

Well I would have to agree with you L3on. I could'nt get any of the links to open except for the Sony link which has no info about the DW-D22A. Like you said JuanC, no updates for OEM and I understand that but you went on to say that the DW-D22A is an OEM version of the Sony DRU-710A which in turn is a rebagged Lite-On drive. My question to you would be how do you "trick" the Sony DRU-710A firmware in to thinking that that is the burner I've got? The firmware pops up a window telling me I do not have the Sony DRU-710A.
One more quick question if you dont mind. If my DW-D22A was burning a CD (mp3 to wav) and was set to burn 710mb on a 700mb disc which has been done many times before and at the end of the burn the light never shut off. My computer then locked up forcing me to reboot. When the puter finally rebooted the DW-D22A cant read anything I put in it. Is the drive FUBAR?

Uhm, you might have got a defective drive. It's kind of frequent with Lite-On dvd burners (and Sony's and the like). I personaly don't like those dvd burners.
unfortunately, the firmware website of the codeguys is down (temporarily?)
Usually the firmware flasher included in the updates is coded so that it will flash only the same "badge" drives (Sony fw updates for Sony drives, Liteon fw updates for LiteOn drives, etc) but lately the flashers are more flexible and would flash any compatible drives.
There's a new fw (CS0P) for the Liteon 1653 drives (newer than 1633= Sony DRU-710A = DW-D22A)and some people report it works fine without crossflashing/ tweaking: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=137862
There you'll find that C0deKing has posted a crossflashable (hacked so that it will flash any compatable drive), unscrambled, "led-fixed" and tweaked version of this fw, and announces he's preparing a new website for his tweaked Lite-On firmwares... Check it out.
Also, take a look at this FAQ (http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=109986) on Lite-On drives to understand what OEM / "rebadged" drives are and a troubleshooting guide. Remember that every frimware update has some risk involved...
