Well I have a really crappy DV camera that I am using to capture video, and Ive been using avisynth to process in the hopes of making it look well, not like crap

either way, I get this weird effect, which to me looks like halo's or edge enhancement, but I dont think thats quite it, its almost as if there is a dark border running around certain images in my frames. I have tried using BlindDeHalo from didee with some mixed results, at times I can reduce the halos a lot with it, but at the cost of severe blurring.

I thought ide post some images up in case any of you wizards out here can suggest something better (they are driving me crazy in the footage)

In this specific shot, look specifically at the top of the guardrail, and around the edge of the car

This shot look around the edge of the car, and you will be able to clearly see it

Again, these are shot with a very crappy handheld cam, these images are completely unprocessed, with the exception of using mvbob to bob to deinterlace.

One other thing, I was going to do a framerate conversion to 24p to get that film look, and TomsMoComp seems to work slightly better on this footage and I was wondering if a tool like mvfps works just as well for that from a 30p source vs a 60p

Thanks guys

there's almost no vertical detail in those pics at all :(

you might as well deinterlace with "separatefields()" and you wont really lose anything.

as far as getting a film look, all you can really do is play with levels until you find something you like. i don't think there's anything avisynth can do to make it look "not crap" unfortunately - this isn't CSI after all (drink for every time they enhance a tiny photo to get coherent detail... this is completely impossible and never will be possible), and we can't get detail that isn't there.

unfortunately, thats what i thought... if i had known before hand that the entry level camcorders were going to have quality that bad than i either wouldnt have bought one at all or considered saving up for a while. Guess thats what i get trying to work on a college students budget.

thanks anyways, guess ill just keep playing around with it until I find something that is suitable (probably half the resolution)
