View Full Version : Break command at end of pre commands

I'm wondering what the purpose / effect is of having a Break command as the last pre command in a PGC ?
I looked Break up at http://www.dvd-replica.com/DVD/break.php but it's left me puzzled. Does it go on to play the cell, jump to the post commands, go to prev/next PGC ?
I was going to skip PGC playback (using PgcEdit), however when I saw the break it got me wondering if the Post Commands that would be moved to the end of the pre commands section would ever get reached.

It plays the cell - specifically cell 1.
The only reason it's there would be that there would possibly be a Goto in the precommands and if you deleted it, the Goto would become invalid.
The kill playback turns the break into a NOP (as it does to other "play" type commands).
You can just Kill Playback and see - if you don't like the results (and you will), just don't save :)

Yep, I like the results. Save activated. Test perfect.
While on commands. Is it possible to jump from the post commands to a certain pre command number. I don't gather it is, without going back to start of the Pgc and using a gprm to control flow, that is.
Reason I ask is that I encountered a Pgc that had 128 commands, thus when I killed playback it moved the post commands to the end of the pre commands, but had to delete them from the post section. At the time I didn't scrutinise the pre commands sufficiently, but in hindsite, figure I should have in case any of them were jumping to the post commands (which no longer exist).

Pre and post commands cannot link to each other. ie the LinkTopPGC command, which would start execution at the first pre command, cannot be used in pre/post commands, only cell and button. The same is true for LinkTailPGC to get to the post commands. All the Link subset commands (the ones without a target cell/pg/pgc/ptt) are restricted to cell and button usage.

So that would mean then that as I've killed playback on the cell (and then blanked), there would be no way for the post commands (remaining in the post command section) ever to get executed.
Thanks mpucoder.

I just remembered a LinkTailPGC in pre commands test I did a while ago. It was interesting on how alot of players are out of specs.

I still have the test DVD files. If you want it, just PM me your email address.

Since you killed the PGC, your post commands should not be played anyway (unless there is a direct jump to a specific chapter elsewhere).
