... this happens on Spider-man 2. I really have no idea why but it does. If I only blank the vob file then it will play 2 minutes of blackness.

The VTS in question lays in nr.9 and there are 2 IDs in it... or what they are called, cells, perhaps. And they both diplays the same amount of play time, but the second is 0kb.

I have even tried killing the playback with PGCedit, still the same results.

Have anyone came across this? (european release)

- Can you post the full info on the PGC in question?
Do that in PgcEdit by right-clicking on the PGC that plays for 2mn, and chosing Info:PGC, then pasting in your post...

- How did you blank the vob file? Did you use PgcEdit?

hi jeanl! thanks for the fast reply

I have used both vobblanker and in a way with PGCedit... In PGCedit I just tried the kill PGC trick as I mentioned.

In Vobblanker I did first blank both of those cells that showed display time of over 2 mins... and then I tried only blanking the one that actually was the trailer, cus the other had no size at all.

I suppose one of the pre commands is the villain

Took me awhile to find this darn error. That the very first entry trailer was the cause of the movie playback error was really my last thought. There were some warnings and irritating text right before the movie was to be played and it was them I suspected first.

Goin to bed now, eyes are burning already :)

That is from before blanking with VobBlanker, right? It looks like only one cell has a playback time of 2 minutes. So, you first blanked both cells belonging to this PGC, then you tried just the cell with the actual trailer?

@jeanl
When this PGC playback gets killed, that "(CallSS) Call the VTSM Root menu" would be made into a pre command. I wonder if pre commands could count as user operations... There are a lot of PUOs concerning Menu Calls. That wouldn't be very practical though. Just wild guess.

I really don't think so! That would be shooting yourself in the foot!!! No, I think PUO are really for operations that are initiated by the user, with the remote, not by the DVD navigation...

Sidan, the PGC you posted does not appear to have been "killed" and the cells don't appear to have been blanked (look at the time on the first cell).
It seems to me that all you need to do is kill the playback on the PGC (click click on the PGC and select "Kill PGC playback").

Thanks for the replies.

but yes,, That pgc I Posted is original. I just copied back the original ifo file and kept the blanked vob. Just a quicky to see what would happen. What happened was it just start playing black screen,,, forever till I skip it with the remote control.

But as soon as I kill that pgc the movie wonīt play.

Itīs really dull because... well here is the order...

*Logo screen
*Trailer of over 2 mins
*Main Menu where you press play for movie
*Dolby Digital logo
* some varning from title set 4 (removed successfully)
*Now movie begins

But as soon the first trailer is killed the movie-player will freeze

what if you just copy the post command to be the last pre command and save the dvd and try to play...?

t :)

ok, Iīve copied back the original files of titleset 9, and left the main trailer vob blank.
Playing as it is it will play black screen till I skip it manually and the movie will then work aswell

Lark, I tried your suggestion and when I played the dvd it skipped the trailer (black screen) but when playing the movie it will then freeze just as before.

that PGC doesnīt like any kind of modification... lol

oh, sorry to hear that!
could you please also post vtst9's root menu's commands?

t :)

If you have done what Lark's suggested then I think the trouble lies elsewhere which you can find out using PgcEdit's trace function and read the log.

Here's a simplest tip in using PgcEdit, one can open the program more than once at the same time. I do that all the time in trouble shooting, open the target folder and then open the original folder, compare away all the commands.

Here's a shot in the dark: I'm guessing that you have turned on the "change post command into pre-command safely" function in VobBlanker and that may have disturbed something in the Root menu of the VTS-9.

try blanking (without changing post-commands) the logo and trailer. then have the disc jump to the main menu on insertion by editing the first-play.

don't know but you might have to do a trace and copy your gprm values before you do the jump.

Sweetness, it worked when I altered the first play pgc to jump directly to the menu. The movie starts playing fine then.

Would be great tho if it could skip to the menu after the main Logo screen. Gotta research on this

I suppose there is too much hustle to keep the first logo Columbia pictures at DVD startup. There must be some gpreg values and such that complicates this

There was a time when using VobBlanker, the user (CoNS) had the same problem with non existing streams.

o well, thanks anyways. It is not only the use of vlobblanker this problem occurs and it seems too much hustle to keep the Distribution logo at start. So Iīll just skip it and start right at the menu

hmm alright. Then I will try out that one later this evening. What do you mean with (menu and title domain) ? Should I alter something on the menu file aswell?

Sorry, just work with the VTS 9 Title domain.
