View Full Version : NeroDigital Certified (and supported) Device Information and Links

The idea behind this thread is to create a list of stand-alone players and devices that are NeroDigital Certified or offer support for NeroDigital (SP/ASP).

Unfortunately many people assume NeroDigital Certification automatically means the device will support playback of Mpeg4/AVC... but this is not yet the case!

If we put the issue of NeroDigital "Profiles" and MPEG "Custom matrices" aside for for a moment, NeroDigital Certified devices should be able to provide the following functionality: - Chapter Selection
Multiple AAC Audio Track Selection
Multiple Subtitle Track Selection
And don't forget, all NeroDigital Certified players will happily spin all your DivX, XviD, 3ivx (and Mpeg4 ISO variants) encodes too!

For more information about NeroDigital, why not check out the following thread from JohnV: -

- Detection of Nero-Digital (DRM) protected Files

Just how does one use DRM from Nero-Digital? Its nice that is supports playback but I have yet to see anywhere that Nero provides DRM at the moment. I know I have seen the field in the file properties but have not seen a ND DRM file yet. Any idea?

I know I have seen the field in the file properties but have not seen a ND DRM file yet. Any idea?I can't say I've even seen this feature being discussed in any great detail yet by any of the NeroDigital Team....

But, if such an option was offered when generating your own NeroDigital .MP4 encodes (like M$ offers when generating WMA files), who in their right minds would use it?

Normally I am against DRM being shoved down our throat on top of other protection schemes, sometimes is ok with me. As an independent film maker who plans on online distribution soley as a means of income, there may come a time that I need to protect my product. M$' DRM is too invasive on its users and I was hoping maybe ND is much kinder...and more secure than M$' offering has proven to be.

Don't let the players name fool you becuase this stand-alone player is also NeroDigital certified.

SeeMoreDigital, do this players support *.mp4 with MPEG4 standard subtitles? If you are referring to TTF (Timed Text File) subtitles then sadly no.

Nero Digital Certified devices support VOBsubs subtitles (the same type of subtitles as DVD) and utilises the DVD players VOBsub decoder engine to decode them....

This implementation does not conform to the official MPEG-4 specification.... but as "hacks" go, it's a clever one!

:thanks:

If you are referring to TTF (Timed Text File) subtitles then sadly no.Yes, I was talking about that format (BTW, is TTF the same as TTXT?)

Nero Digital Certified devices support VOBsubs subtitles (the same type of subtitles as DVD) and utilises the DVD players VOBsub decoder engine to decode them.... It's a pity, Nero could have included both option in its certification: VobSub files or the MPEG-4 standard.

Why are companies always breaking official specifications?
