I never really have time to test this player extensively. Coz i think MPC does the job.

But anyone mind giveing me some quick advantage over MPC?

Although in some cases this can be unfavorable as well (for example, when H.264 first got popular, it took a while before there was a non-directshow player that could handle H.264 as well as the nero filters).

*sigh*

It doesn't use DirectShow. That's very good. Kpex said it has "many other advantages"; we'll all benefit from a paragraph from him regarding what those other benefits are.

I've especially found it useful. Here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=94765)'s a thread that proves VLC beats the others hands down.

Bravo to the VideoLAN team.

DAR is depends of the dshow video decoder(or splitter),
it is nothing to do with MPC...
BTW ive tried changed the MKV(XviD and x264) DAR via MKVToolnix,
the DAR still ignored by...(Haali Media Splitter? XviD dshow decoder, moonlight h264 decoder or ffdshow?
I also try to change the video render but doesn't help)

[edit].oops, sorry, ive tried zoomplayer, and it show the correct DAR >.< ...

Make some tests with this sample with DAR-4:3, pixels matrix is 520x564
ftp://www.eb.enterpol.pl:eb@www.eb.enterpol.pl/test.avi
No problem with VLC and MPlayer.

EDIT
The "same" sample with DAR 16:9 pixel matrix 528x574
ftp://www.eb.enterpol.pl:eb@www.eb.enterpol.pl/tesst16x9.avi

1. I've tried to play a DVD in VLC; the video plays - no problem here. But the audio is gurbled. Why?

2. Do I uninstall the old one before installing a new version?

Regards.
