View Full Version : (SOLVED) DVDShrink & BOV buttons - HELP ?

When I do a (full disc) backup using DVDShrink (v 3.2.0.15), I lose partial functionality of BOV buttons. (as in I can't see the button anymore, but the content still exists)

Let me explain ... the disc am trying to backup (XFiles season) has BOV functionality -- a small "X" appears on the bottom right of the screen and pressing select takes you to some deleted scenes etc (like the Matrix rabbit)

Anyways, after doing the backup with shrink, I can't see the "X" no more ... though if I press the Enter/select key on the remote at the correct scene, the deleted scenes play correctly --- I just lose the visual cue of a button being present -- I need to know about it beforehand !

Is there something that can be done to get back the visual apperance of the button ?

Please let me know if I can explain something more in detail in case I've not done so till now :)

Thanks :\

hi max2k,

although i am not 100% all-knowing as far as dvdshrink is concerned, i do know my BOV :)

my guess is that when you were selecting subpicture streams to delete, you deleted the streams that contain the subpics ... the visible 'X', however shrink has kept the highlight layer (and possibly even dummied the BOV subpics) to retain functionality.

so, i would assume that if you went through the back-up process again, and kept all your substreams (well, at least the stream which contains the BOV subpics), everything should be as the original.

Hi,

I agree with jel, you most likely deleted the wrong subpic
stream. For the X-Files disks, the BOV substreams are the ones
that are only about .5 mb in size. The bigger ones are the
subtitles which you can safely get rid of if you don't want
subtitles.

Thanks jel and hf

There is a good chance that I deleted the subtitles (I remove all of 'em) :)
I will re-do one of those discs to make sure I get it right !

Thanks again !

Thanks folks ...

It was indeed the subpic stream like you said.

I left those in place and now my BOV visual cues come up :)

You learn something everyday !
