Hi all,

When i play hdtv video (1440x1088 pal 25fps), with the latest media player classic/ffdshow, the cpu usage is around 95%. When i play the same video with powerdvd 6, the usage is around 20% to 30%. I think it has something to do with hardware acceleration. all post-processing is off.
How come mpc uses so much power? i would definatly rather play movies on mpc than powerdvd, but it makes multitasking difficult.

i have tried changing output modes in mpc, like overlay,vmr9,etc. not better.

maybe its a codec problem? which codec do people recommend?

Maybe MPC uses diffrent MPEG decoder. In my opinion Sonic is faster decoder. I use ffdshow audio decoder for audio and i can use equalizer for all players.

Yeah, MPC has uses its own MPEG decoder by default, but you can turn it off and use something else if you want.
