I have an ADVC 50 firewire capture card. What is a good program to capture the footage with. I will need to capture about 2.5 hrs at a time. I currently use adobe premiere when i edit the footage, but it only allows for capture times of about 30 min.... Any suggestions?

Hello, and welcome to the forum!
I'm moving this to the DV forum, since the ADVC is DV, and the "Capture Forum" is mainly analog discussion.
Check the FAQs and Links "sticky threads" in the DV forum, you may find your answers there.

You can try one of these:

??? I can't recall that Premiere has a 30min limit for DV captures. I have definitely more than once captured 60 minutes in one piece with Premiere 6.5. Never done it so far with Premiere Pro, but I'm pretty sure there is no 30 min limit (at least there must be a setting somewhere to disable/extend that limit)

I think it was actually a file size limit....

And then only if you're running FAT32 - max. filesize 4096MB.

actually, 30 mins sounds suspiciously like a "capture now" limit. premiere (i think) is able to split files into arbitraty sizes, however don't use it because it's crap - it aborts a capture if it loses focus, and will drop frames unless you turn previewing off, no matter how fast your system actually is.
i usually use Scenalyzer Live, but i'm sure there's other stuff out there that'll do the job just as well (it's payware).
remember, firewire capping is just a file transfer, and firewire 1.0 is fast enough to capture even uncompressed yuy2, though i wouldn't recommend it... i'm only telling you this so you'll know there's no excuse for software to drop frames if it's less than 8 years old.

I just did a check, and i was able to record for 2hrs. At a cost of 25 gigs. Ouch. This was with adobe premiere. Its weird. Last time i tried that it didn't work... I don't mind using paying for software. I'll look into Scenalyzer Live. Thanks for the suggestion..
