I seem to be having much better results using the DoitFast4U>Scenaid>BatchEncodeM2V>Scenarist route.
I normally use DoitFast4U>BatchCCEWS>Scenaid>Scenarist.
I would like to request automation inbetween the apps. It seems possible to me that you could one click all the way from DoitFast4u through the completion of BatchEncodeM2V?
Or maybe I am missing some features? As it is now I run DoitFast4u and wait till that is complete, then I fire off Scenaid and that gets me to everything imported to BatchEncodeM2V, then I jam the encode button on BatchEncodeM2V. When its complete all I have to do is a import and compile.
What was really nice about the method I normally use is that both the heavy time consuming apps could run without intervention.
This is certainly not a rant and rave, just thought I would throw it out there because it would be awsome to have.
These tools are great and thanks for all the hard work you put into them.
hmm
Most of this is already available as automation.
DIF4U still requires manually opening of scenaid(with the present versions), (although it will open/close numenu4u aswell) but in scenaid you have an option to open and start the encoder. The option is also there to start scenarist (set to import, compile, close). Now if you select one-click-run then when selecting the directory, a script will be built, assets encoded, scenarist started and finished. All that is required then is to run batchifoupdate and create the image & burn (the last 2 can also be done together with imgtool)
So start to finish can be as little as 4 steps:
dif4u start button
scenaid open folder
batchifo open ifos
imgtool
I am sure soon even the last 2 will be available through scenaid also

Anyone know how to make Scenaid automatic(import, compile) with resized extra?? Scenarist gives me a " import failure " and dont compile.
currently you can't... next public build though should have the ability to resize extras in it (probably w/ a avs editor so you can specify your own preference on HOW to resize)
only thing is oneclick might be a pain unless I assume all extras will be resized

I resize my extras all the time. Automated encoding, script generation and compiling works flawlessly.
well aren't you special :)
maybe it's only a NTSC thing then but the few I tried scenarist complains about the size being wrong and fails import (without script adjustment)

The problem is I have to manually compile after the scenarist error and its not automatic, its not a big problem :)
i'm with Ripe73 on this.
in my limited testing of resizing extras (PAL material), i have always had to manually edit the .scp file to reflect the change with using half D1 ... so .... mr flu ... I resize my extras all the time. Automated encoding, script generation and compiling works flawlessly. ...care to explain how?
cheers

i use this line in my avs script:
lanczosresize(352,576,8,0,704,576)
Never eve made any adjustments to the script. Maybe I'm just lucky. I didn't make a backup in weeks, so I don't know which scenaid version I'm talking about. I'll check this weekend with a ntsc and a pal title.

scenarist will give an import error but will compile with no issues when the resolution is different.

I was trying to test it, but suddenly my scenarist won't work anymore. It opens fine, but then it disappears. CPU is still at 100% but that's it  Gotta figure that out first.....
edit: where would we be without this great forum. Seems my nforce2 drivers were messing up :)

i have to concur with Trahald. It gives me an error, but compiles anyway. No adjustments needed to script or anything.
well you learn something new everyday ... :D
thanks for the confirmation guys
rockin!

The issue at hand though is the error it tosses causes automate_scenarist to halt.... so full automation isn't possible

If you add half d1 functionality you can throw in a script adjustment as well :P
Any chance of muxman usage in the future? So we can get rid of scenarist anyway :)
that's what we were saying :)
i believe muxman will support it because DVD specs allow it (I believe)

I think that things will speed up a lot if we would use muxman. Scenarist would aonly be needed for projects that need manual intervention (which are quite rare).
And maybe (haven't checked yet) muxman will also be able to deal with somewhat exotic structures (different audio streams within pgcs etc)
