I'm looking for a good filter to remove noise from my captures. I tried PeachSmoother but that doesn't seem to remove anything. IS there any other filter ?
My only requirement is that it works with interlaced video.
TIA

Temporal filters are interlace safe.
Spatial filters can be used on interlaced material if you separate the fields before you apply the filter.

Temporal filters are not interlace-safe if you process as you would process a progressive source.

Why not?

Spatial filters are the opposite: they are interlace-safe only if you separate fields first.
For filters that smooth both spatially and temporally, you need to do some additional work.
And yes, use the search. This topic has been beaten to death already.
How to process interlaced and the final result to be interlaced (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=86394)

Wouldn't using a temporal filter directly on an interlaced source cause problems because the frame consists of two temporally different fields?
Please enlighten me, this is the thing that usually confuses the most:)

But you are not averaging fields from the same frame. You are averaging samples from the odd and even fields separately, because their spatial position is different.
@Numlock,
Peach (using the red dot to estimate the noise levels), TTempSmooth, FFT3DFilter, RemoveDirt, PixieDust, etc ...

Ah, I see the light now, thanks (totally confused spatial+temporal sampling with temporal-only):D
I recommend trying LRemoveDust, it's my current favorite for all my analog captures. See the RemoveGrain thread, it's posted there. I use mainly LRemoveDust(17,2).
