Hey guys, I've been making movies with XviD for awhile now and I've noticed a problem showing up on my latest batch of compressed movies.
Every so often, if a scene runs for an extended period and the camera moves slowly or not at all (like a slow zoom), objects start getting discolored, especially on faces. A portion of the face, say an ear or a forehead, slowly starts shifting into another color (usually green), and after it gets really bad it suddenly snaps back into the right color. I know it's somehow caused by turning on the QPel, because the discoloration problem goes away when I turn it off, but I hate turning off quarter pixels because that's what makes XviD so much better than everything else!
Do you guys have any experience with this problem? I downgraded from version 1.1 to 1.0 and it's still there. I turned on "Chroma Optimizer" and it's still there. Might the source of the problem be a conflicting codec? I checked my older compressions and this discoloration didn't start showing up till now.
