48i ouput possible?

Is it possible somehow to force a DVD-Standalone player to put out 48i (48 Hertz) NTSC video with 23.976 fps progressively encoded DVDs?
I think, my "new" TV would handle it with some minor adjustments...

I ask this, because the 3:2 Pulldown really bothers me...

A novel idea!

I guess you could do this with a Sigma Xcard, by changing some registry settings... But with a stand-alone DVD player... Where would you start?

I guess some players might allow you to re-configure various output setting via an hidden/service menu mode... but which ones?

What's the matter, scharfi? That 3-2-3-2 during panning scenes plays to jerky for you? Too much stutter? We NTSC people are so used to it that we hardly even notice it. Probably for the same reason that higher pitched voices and music at 25fps from what was originally 24fps doesn't bother you PAL people very much.

I don't know of any players that can do that. Pioneer has some NTSC TV sets that can output 72 Hz (24x3) now for much smoother playback. I'm hoping that technology makes its way down to other brands in the years to come.
