View Full Version : Mp3 to AC3 time delay and frequency woes

Well i'm trying to convert mp3 (which is integrated into an AVI) to an independant ac3 file.
I have been doing this for years...but...
Recently I have encountered several avi files which contain an mp3 with rather odd behaviour.
When checking the avi file with "avi info" or "yet another avi info" i see no audio delay with 48 KHZ mp3 sound, but when extracting to wav file via besweet i get one unit synch error and the frequency is reported as 11 KHZ.
If i build a tree in graph edit to take the film and remux it with wav audio, and then check it again...i get an audio delay, which after checking is real.
So to sum it up - when i extract with Besweet to a wav file,i get the wrong frequency and a synch problem due to the audio delay.
I have reverted to taking the film, remaxing it with graphedit with wav audio and checking the delay, then extracting the audio to wav only (via graphedit" again) and only then encoding it to ac3 in Soft encode.(changing the delay before or after to the wav or ac3 file - i havn't really chosen a method yet.)
As you can see, this is very tedious.

So my questions are:
1. Why cann't i see the audio delay value in the original avi file with mp3?
2. Why do i get a frequency change in besweet?
3. Any shortcut here - anybody can recommend?
