View Full Version : Adding arbitrary files to a backup

I'd like to backup some of my DVDs, probably just using DVD Decryptor's ISO file creation. But I would also like to add an extra file or two to the backed-up disk, which could be an ascii text file containing sleeve notes or perhaps a TIF image scan of the cover (provided there is enough unused space available).
Can this be done *easily* ?
Thanks.

just put them in the root folder, i wouldn't add that stuff in the VIDEO_TS folder. Make a image with ImgTool Classic and burn with DVD Decryptor.
you might want to take a look at making jacket picture (http://www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/t148301.html)

Thanks that works very well.
1. Use DVD Decryptor "File" mode to dump all files from the DVD
to a folder on the hard drive
2. Add your extra file(s) to the folder
3. Create ISO using ImgTool Classic, telling it to automatically
use DVD Decryptor to burn the final backup DVD disc.
Are there likely to be any DVD discs which will not play correctly if you do the above (rather than just doing a simple ISO-based copy) ?
I didn't bother with the jacket picture facility although it was quite interesting - I didn't know you could do that.

If you use ITC, all will be OK. These extra files are DVD-ROM files and belong after the video files in VIDEO_TS. ITC makes them all nice for you.
Of course, your standalone player won't be able to do anything with them, but on a PC based DVD drive, the info will be there. I've often thought of including a basic link to IMDB as a DVD-ROM file for my backups.
