Yes, another audio sync problem - but this is not like the others described in the posts I've found so far (I guess everyone says that!)
I've made loads of Xvids using AutoGK (great proggie!!) of DVDs produced by my Pioneer DVR. These Xvids, with AC3 2.0 sound, play back without problem on my Samsung 244.
I recently tried making some backup Xvids of commercial episode DVDs (STDS9 and Babylon5). The audio is AC3 5.1 and AC3 3.0, The result works fine on PCs and some work OK on the Samsung. Unfortunately some suffer from audio which lags behind the video (a constant amount) UNTIL I stop and resume the playback, whereupon the audio is now magically in sync with the video.
I've tried a number of Xvid versions (1.0.3, 1.1.0b1, 1.1.0b2 with different versions of AutoGK) and for a given episode the behaviour is always the same. I tried demuxing and remuxing with various delays/preloads but the result was something which still wasn't in sync to start with on the Samsung, and which was hopelessly wrong after I did the stop/start trick, they were also useless on the PC.
I also tried using the bitrate spike limit option and the ESS options of AutoGK, they made no difference. I also tried something called AC3Fix - which didn't help either.
I tried encoding using DivX Pro 5.2.?, using the same AutoGK settings as for the Xvids, and the results work without a problem on both PC and Samsung.
I have also noticed the same problems with Xvids made by others.
I get the impression that it only happens when more than 2 channels are present in the AC3 stream.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this problem on the Samsung and, more importantly (!!) how I could fix the Xvids to work 'normally'.
