Hi all,
I've been experimenting with creating chapter points and chapter names using Kurtnoise13's 1st public release of YAMB : Yet Another MP4Box GUI.
The muxing and chapter naming worked well. As you can see here: -

However, I noticed that when the ShowTime 2 Player is set to "full screen", the chapter buttons are greyed out :(

Has anybody else noticed this?
Cheers

Yeah, I've been noticing the same bug with disabled chapter buttons for several months. It doesn't matter whether I use Recode to make chapters, or mp4box to make chapters. It also doesn't matter whether I'm in fullscreen or windowed mode.
Take a closer look at that MPC screenshot, too. It's missing the first chapter, and has an extra one at the end. I get the same bug.

does this only happen with the nero parser on your files?

The 3ivx splitter worked properly with chapters, IIRC. Don't know about the Haali parser, since I've never used it.

I wonder whether it's an MPC thing or Nero parser thing!
Anyway.... here's a link to the encode for other people to try... If they feel so inclined: -

The problem is in Showtime, and Nero wrote their parser to compensate for that problem. The compensation in the Nero parser is not needed in MPC or WMP6.4. Thus, we see the effects of Nero parser's compensation where none is needed in MPC and WMP6.4.
Those next and previous chapter buttons work with DVD, but otherwise those are used to select the next and previous file in the playlist.
I know, it would be good if there were buttons in that control bar to change the chapters also in MP4, probably soon..

Are you able to explain why MPC and ShowTime display the chapter information differently.... Is it a parser issue and can it be remedied?
Cheers

Showtime interprets the chapter information differently than WMP6.4. I'd guess that WMP6.4 reads chapters into a one-based array, while Nero uses a zero-based array. From a programmer's perspective, Nero's way is preferable, but the problem is that they didn't fully follow the defacto standard that was already set by WMP6.4, thus breaking compatability with the established player.

the nicest chapters for mp4 files are in bs player. But in the moment I canīt see any video in bs player.
Best mp4 Direct Show Player is zoom player for me, itīs because of the keybord fuctions.
Best player of all is mplayer with this GUI (http://www-user.tu-chemnitz.de/~mfie/index.php?software=mpui)
