View Full Version : Elecard doesn't play video anymore

A few days ago I noticed 9 squares in the corner of Media Player when I played an MPEG2. Somebody told me that it was the Elecard logo, and that it meant my trial period had expired. So I uninstalled Elecard and replaced it with a freeware MPEG2 decoder.

But it turned out the video I was trying to play was coded with a very unusual codec (YMPEG) and other MPEG2 decoders couldn't play it.
So I installed Elecard again, but now it only plays sound, no video!

Anybody know why this is? Maybe I mistook the ZIP file on my harddisk (i.e. it could be I have 2 versions of Elecard in my download folder, and now picked the wrong one)? I've also heard that BSPlayer includes the Elecard codec, is that true?

Uninstall Elecard and install a DVD software, such as PowerDVD. It has better mpeg2 codec. The other thing is the Ligos Indeo Video (it has an mpeg2 splitter, but it's a bit buggy.)

1. The logo and/or the announcement mean(s) that you have the shareware version of the Moonlight-Elecard MPEG-2 Video Decoder on your PC. Because some player (for example WMP) hasn’t its own MPEG-2 Video Decoder it has to use any installed. The Elecard “dancing” logo signifies that the shareware period has expired, and in order to get rid the logo you should buy the registered version of the Moonlight-Elecard MPEG-2 Player (Decoder + GUI), otherwise, uninstall the Decoder completely.
2. -… now it only plays sound, no video!
First of all, what do you mean saying “Elecard” – Player, Decoder Pack or anything else?
What version and build did you try?
What files did you try to playback – I mean what are Video and Audio formats of these files?
3. Try to use the new (3.0) version of the Player (http://www.elecard.com/products/mpeg2player.shtml).
This is a shareware version (with logo) but you can use it for free for 21 days and uninstall it later, if you don't like it.

Thanks for bumping this 2 weeks old topic for giving an answer, but I already have it working again. :)

Someone from Elecard support helped me, for some reason I had to install an old version of the decoder, because the newest version doesn't work with Windows 2000.

Yes, maybe it's late but I never been here before...
1. What version of the Elecard decoder do you mean?
2. All products must operate with Win 2000.

Use G Spot for codec information and setting merit. Say list media types from menu and change merit of MPEG decoder which want to use. For example if u want to use Nvidia MPEG2 Decoder change it's merit to 80000.
