I didn't know exactly where to put this thread, so excuse me if it's improperly located.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The issue is how ac3 handles PCM audio.

Let me describe how it is for me: I have a lot of anime, which usually is just 2-stereo PCM, with a few exceptions: I've got some dvdrips that's 5.1 PCM.

Here's where the problem lies. The ac3 codec is of course set to handle ac3, dts and dvdaudio, and that's fine. But to get the 5.1 surround in those few files, I have to let it handle PCM too.

All my 2-stereo PCM files:
-Sounds normal with 2-stereo setting (sound is cloned to back and rear speakers)
-Sounds horrible with 5.1 (2+2+1+LFE)setting. Sound is still being cloned.

My 5.1 PCM files:
-Sound is low and cloned with 2-stereo setting
-Full 5.1 effect and better sound with 5.1 setting.

So basicely, I have to switch between them depending on what I'm watching.

Is there a way to get around this? Some way for ac3 to adjust it's setting to whatever the source is perhaps..

I'm using:
ffdshow-20050406
ac3filter 0,70b
Zoomplayer and MPC.
