View Full Version : Floating Point Division by Zero error?

I attempted an encode with AutoGK 2.07 beta last night. Different settings than I have used before, but they don't seem to be uncommon.

The source--an MPEG-2 file recorded from a VHS tape. The size of that file is 1,474,848 KB. Resolution 720x480, 4:3 AR. I used the file mode to import it into AutoGK.

Setting for output--size, one CD. I set a fixed width for output resolution to 640. Compressor-Xvid. Audio--128kbps VBR MP3. No other changes to settings. Started the encode.

Hours later, it looked like it was finished, and there was a resulting AVI file. However, that AVI file was larger than the original MPG file--1,549,996 KB! Furthermore--it didn't have any sound!

I looked at the AGK log file. Apparently, this AVI was just the result of the first pass. (Is that normal, that the AVI created by first pass is larger than the original, and contains no sound?) And the second pass had immediately aborted when it started. I will quote the log file:

[5/1/2005 1:01:58 AM] Duration was: 3 hours 11 minutes 37 seconds
[5/1/2005 1:01:59 AM] Speed was: 13.58 fps.
[5/1/2005 1:01:59 AM] Expected quality of first pass size: 40.71
[5/1/2005 1:01:59 AM] Running second pass.
[5/1/2005 1:02:00 AM] Duration was: 0 seconds
*************************************
EXCEPTION: Floating point division by zero
*************************************
[5/1/2005 1:02:00 AM] Job finished. Total time: 3 hours 43 minutes 4 seconds

What does that mean--floating point division by zero? Why did it happen? How could that be prevented from occurring in the future?

Thank you for your response.

Thanks for the tips. I just read those threads, however, and don't see anything that would help me. It looks like they refer to an incompatibility with AutoGK and certain versions of Xvid. I, however, just used the Xvid that was installed with this version of AutoGK. I didn't do anything to change Xvid settings, I just used the AutoGK settings as described.

Anyone have an idea of what could have happened?
