For the first time I'm trying HC. I'm using .86 Pro and One Pass. I've tried 2 different movies and both have come out to exactly 3.99GB. I thought the first was a fluke but 2 at exactly 3.99? Any ideas? Do I need to adjust my target size? Thanks

First, OPV is not an exact science...so you will be off some sometimes(3.99??), where do you live...there is a known problem with dvd-rb .86 and OPV+HC with where you live. DVD-RB .87a should fix it

From DVD-RB .87a Read Me:

Corrected an error in which the CQ value for HC
was being incorrectly written to the HC INI
file. This could result in erroneous sizing
and prediction loops in countries that use the
comma as a decimal point.

Second, what ver of HC Encoder are you using??

Third, what movie(s) are you backing up??

These can help solve your problem.

UPDATE - Third time was the charm. Tried 3rd movie and output came to 4.20gb - looks very good also. Thanks

Thanks. I'm using .14 of HC and live in the US. I am currently trying a third movie and on this one I am trying .87 of DVD-RB. Maybe it was just a fluke. The thing that threw me was they both came out exactly 3.99.
