In terms of Video / playing Editing... etc

I know there is a RealPlayer for OSX
Divx Works as well ( Does Xvid ? )
Nero Digital? ( Properbly not )

There is WMP9 for Mac OSX. But people are saying WM in avi doesn't work on it. ( Which is bascially 99% of things )

Does WM Streaming Works ?

There is a program called Flip which allow you to use WMp on Quicktime in OSX. Any body try it yet The link Below

On the encoding side, there's FFMPEGX. If you check out the feature list, it's pretty much everything you need. I'd like to see a version of this for linux.

As for playing wmv in avi, you might try vlc. Not sure if it'll work, but it's worth a try.
