Guys/Gals,
I have a naive question. Often times, decrypter asks me to select the region the disc was intended for, right before ripping. Sometimes, even DVD Shrink does the same.
I'm wondering... Is that because the disc implements its own region protection, by disallowing viewing on a player whose region code is "any"? Does decrypter attempt to find any occurence of sprm(20) to detect that?
Then what happens? Does decrypter replace any occurence of sprm(20) in DVD commands by the region that you selected, in an attempt to defeat the protection? I didn't see any occurence of that on the ripped IFOs, but that may be because decrypter did its job well!
I've always been puzzled by that.
