View Full Version : Missing M2V and Missing Frames Disc?

I've seen several reports of these, and so far I've only been able to repeat the missing M2V error once (on an HBO whitenoise intro), which I use to create a workaround. Since then I've done many test discs and have never seen either problem. While it appears to be a CCE v2.70 problem (at least that's what caused it in the one instance I found and all the indicators are the same for the ones reported, since they go away with other encoders [including CCE])... I'd like to do some testing to verify the exact cause.

Can someone name an NTSC R1 disc (for each of the two reported problems) that will consistently repeat this error? I will purchase it (if it's something that can be found) so I can do some testing.

Even if CCE V2.70 is buggy, it's still a damn good encoder -- and I'd like to find a way to make these problems go away.

Thanks,
jdobbs

I will run the same source through v87a again without the fix, and see if I can get the error to repeat. Will report back.

@ jdobbs

Could you put the hbo whitenoise intro m2v file available for download to test it?
Even if CCE V2.70 is buggy, it's still a damn good encoder -- and I'd like to find a way to make these problems go away. It is my favourite of all cce versions despite the problems reported which I haven't experienced yet.

I don't think I should post copyrighted material. Besides, after I tweaked the high-end bitrates upward (they were exceptionally cautious before) it doesn't crash it any more. That's why I need someone to tell me where I can find a disc to which it is happening.

Judging by the response -- this may be less of an issue than I thought might. I'd be happy to find that out.

@ jdobbs

From what I read from your posts the problem with cce 2.70 is at high demanding scenes and the bitrate going off the roof.
As you know the CCE default setting of Vbr_Bias is 30, well, since DVD-RB is aimed to compression and reduced overall bitrate, I believe that bias should be increased and with that it would help reduce the high spikes of bitrate produced and therefore maybe the cce 2.70 issues could be resolved and even help overall quality.

I suggest changing Vbr_Bias default to 40 which I found very good results (better at my specific test involving fading scenes) comparing to other values.

Hope that makes sense to you.

well you seem to be right on the money jdobbs, v2.70 won't act the same way twice, at least not on this source. Ran it through the same process (OPV, movie only) that I had received the error before, and could not get it to repeat this time :confused:. So, here's to hoping it is a rare occurrance. I am happy to say that this particular M2V error was the ONLY time it has ever happened to me.

i believe it's kind of important that i report the same error with CCE sp 2.5.. i'm using dvd-rb 0.91 freeware, with the included decoder, and the source is an iso image of alien quadrilogy, first disc.

i just got it again - posting logs:

same error for each line, no .m2v file exist.. really dunno what to do..

That disc is apparently heavily ILVU -- notice the 21.3% reduction... I'm guessing the bitrate is may be too low on that segment. You'll have to wait until v1.00 to do that disc.

i'll now go grab another disc, as the same error occoured even on another totally different comp, but i doubt it's a disc's problem...

I don't think you are configured properly. Have you tried installing with the Rockas Installer? Have you set up ECLCCE (it's required for CCE v 2.50)?

same identical problem with die hard 3, a much simpler dvd.. i'm starting to believe some cce options are set wrong..
AVS options are both checked, plus mpeg2source; cce sp 2.50.01 is correctly set, VBR_bias is set to 25 and quality prec to 24; i've been using the included decoder and a random decomb i found in the avisynth dir (anyway i'm not using it, so..); i pointed cce sp 2.5 link to the right file, and all the other lines are left blank as i don't have any of the other codecs.
i will now give it a brief try with cce sp 2.66.01.07, but i don't expect much.. please tell me something about this friggin error, as it's driving me nuts!

it completed in zero as each m2v file creation gave an error and i was clicking them like mad :rolleyes:
trying now with the installer anyway, will report really soon.

And this is probably your error:

CCE250=C:\Programmi\DVD2SVCD\Cinema Craft Encoder SP 2.50\cctsp.exe

You should have pointed it to ECLCCE.

CCE250=C:\Programmi\DVD-RB\cce 2.5\EclCCE.exe

yeah, guessed so, but i read in some nfo file that it was meant to work only with >=2.66.... my bad :)
