View Full Version : Nandub a/v sync error with GK

I have a strange a/v behavior for two of my files:
I have a clip recorded from tapes, length: 88:18
The inital file was MPEG2, incl. audio.
I then converted the audio stream to abr-mp3, which also shows exactly 88:18. (-> using BeSweet)
Finally, I had GK encode the video and mux the whole thing. (-> GK 0.32)
However, a/v is out of sync, that is, it gets worse to the end :(

Manual mux with AVI mux, Nandub, VirtualDub does not work. What's wrong here???

Very strange: the other 10 jobs came out just perfect. Just those two won't work, and I swear, I did not touch the setting ;)

I know it has been asked many times before, but no previous answer seems to fit...

Is the encoded video part also exactly 88:18?

audio: 5298 secs
video: 5298 secs

I also rechecked by demuxing the final file...

By the way:
audio abr 160kbit, 44khz
video xvid, 25fps

And: the sound comes too late compared to the video...

Hmm..usually gradual A/V desync happens when the audio is shorter than the video or viceversa. But since that is not the case here, I am not sure what is wrong.

Can you try an encode with MP3-VBR/MP3-CBR/AC3 and see if the issue repeats itself?

Same thing with mp3 cbr 160. Desnyc is about 3 secs after 75 mins.

Suddenly it goes desync after 75 mins? :/

Did you check the VOB file at this exact point to see if there is a 'jerk' during playback? I once had a corrupted VOB of this sort where at one point it 'jerked' and then continued fine after that. But when I encoded the VOB, at that point the audio sync went haywire. Then I had to cut the avi into 2, resync the second part and then join them back.

Oh no, my mistake here: after 75 min, the desync has come to a TOTAL of 3 secs.

Are the any other tools besides VirtualDubMod or Nandub who can mux those files. Or rewrite my avi headers if those are broken...???

I played aroung with the video's framerate to determine the offset...

Well, it turns out as follows: at the end of the tape, 24.9835 fps will achieve lip sync. However, at the beginning of the file, 25.01 will do so.

Please don't tell me, that my recording is simply messed up :(

Would it make a difference to edit the audio stream by squeezing it by about 3 secs???

Give this (http://nickyguides.digital-digest.com/audio-synch.htm)a shot.

Thanks, this looks very encouraging. I will give it a try...
